Denture Care

Though your dentures are not real teeth and, therefore, are not susceptible to tooth decay, they are still dependent on proper routine care for longevity and quality. When you receive dentures from Smile Design Modern Dentistry – Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Erfan Imeni and our team will provide you with specific instructions to help you care for your new teeth.

Dentures should be removed at the end of each day and thoroughly brushed with a soft nylon toothbrush. Most toothpastes are too abrasive and will damage the dentures, so it is advisable to only use denture cream. Rinse with cold water to avoid warping. Once clean, submerge your dentures in water or denture solution to prevent them from drying out.

It is important to visit our office regularly for touch ups and adjustments to keep your dentures in top shape. If you notice any staining, warping, wearing out, or loosening of your dentures, come see our dentist for repair. Ill-fitting dentures can cause friction to your gums and increase your risk of disease and infection, while stained or worn-out synthetic teeth can make your smile look older tired.
